The Disney Magic's first ever arrival at Port Canaveral was a huge event. Carrying crew and their families on the trans-Atlantic voyage, the Disney Magic made a grand entrance into Florida. People lined the shores to watch the ship sail in, and a flotilla of small ships escorted the Disney Magic into port.

The ship's inaugural was attended by thousands of Disney fans. Patty Disney, wife of Roy Disney, christened the ship and, along with her husband, were named the ship's godparents.

The Disney Wonder is the sister ship of the Disney Magic. Almost identical to the Magic, the Wonder only has a few superficial changes. After being launched from the Fincantieri shipwards in July of 1999, the Disney Wonder payed a visit to the historic Port of Southampton in Britain. Afterwards, the Wonder crossed the Atlantic to reach its home birth of Port Canaveral, Florida where, on the morning August 2nd, it was escorted into port by its sister ship, the Disney Magic, and on August 16th, the Disney Wonder set sail on its inaugural cruise.
